It takes six months or more to raise dual-purpose chickens from an egg to put eggs back on the table. Our Heritage turkeys take a minimum of eight months.
Both of these eggs are from my farm. The difference is that one chicken was broody and rarely left the coop, eating only grain. The other chicken foraged for grass, weeds, and bugs.
Farm fresh breakfasts never get old. There is an incredible feeling of freedom and accomplishment with every meal that comes from the time and energy you put in to grow your food.
