Climbing Everest

Everyone has a mountain to climb. Even if you start out with hills... give yourself the opportunity to conquer them no matter the shape, size, or name.

Chapter 40: Clients

My first deer harvest.

I was amazed at what I had landed.

I used a tripod to take the photo.

I roped the buck onto the tractor loader to take it to the barn so I could skin the cape.

I caped out the hide without making a single hole in the cape or leaving any excess flesh in the freezing temperatures.

It wasn't easy dancing with half a deer carcass to get it roped up so it could hang to age. It was worth the sore back the next day. I packaged up the front quarters in XXL ziplock bags to process when I had rested up and got the inflammation down from all of the activity.

Nothing beats a hot fire in the wood stove after being out in the cold for hours filling your heart with country survival skills.

I had to wait five months to get my mount back from the award-winning taxidermist Alex Zajac.
